Rakeback math: what 30% actually adds to your yearly win-rate

Most players treat rakeback as a nice-to-have — a little something the room throws back. That framing costs you money, because it hides how large the number actually is over a year.
Rake is a fixed tax on every pot
Every time you win a raked pot, the room takes a cut. On micro and low-stakes cash games that cut is small per hand but relentless. Grind 40 hours a month and you’re paying rake on thousands of pots. That total is your single biggest fixed expense as a player — bigger, for most break-even grinders, than the edge they hold over the field.
What 30% back does to the ledger
Say your play generates €400 of rake in a month. At the top 30% rakeback tier, €120 lands back in your balance — every month, whether you won or lost at the tables.
A break-even player with €120/month in rakeback isn’t break-even. They’re a €1,440-a-year winner who hasn’t noticed yet.
That’s the point most people miss. Rakeback doesn’t improve your poker. It changes the baseline you’re measuring your poker against.
The cycle resets every Monday
Your rakeback percentage isn’t fixed at 30% — it climbs as you generate rake, and 30% is the top of the ladder. The cycle runs Monday to Monday: every Monday at 01:00 UTC the balance is credited automatically and your level resets to the bottom for the week ahead.
Two things follow from that. Your rake counts toward one week only — it doesn’t roll over. And the cashier shows your unpaid rakeback the whole way through the cycle, so the number you’re climbing toward is never a guess.
Why “automatic” matters more than the percentage
A headline rakeback number is worthless if you have to clear wagering, opt in weekly, or hit a volume cliff to see it. Ours credits every Monday, with no request and no expiry. It covers cash games, tournaments and Spins — not just one format. The math only works if the money is actually reachable, so we made it the default, not a reward you chase.
The honest caveat
Rakeback rewards volume, and the weekly reset sharpens that. If you play twice a month, it’s a rounding error and you’ll never leave the bottom tier. If you play seriously, it’s the difference between a losing year and a winning one. Know which player you are before you let the number motivate you.
